The Department of Pharmacy at The University of New Mexico (UNM) Hospital offers an ASHP accredited one-year PGY2 oncology pharmacy residency program. We are the only National Cancer Institute (NCI) designated cancer center in the state. Our Comprehensive Cancer Center averages over 100,000 clinic encounters per year.
The oncology pharmacy residency program prepares residents to become skilled and confident practitioners in their area of specialization. Residents will be responsible for ensuring optimal drug therapy outcomes as key members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams, while working to enhance the overall medication use process. Additionally, residents will engage in developing and supporting quality improvement initiatives, contribute to research, precept pharmacy learners, and give didactic lectures at the college of pharmacy.
Most rotations are 4 weeks in duration.
