The Administrative Core of the New Mexico Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (NM ADRC) primary goal is to promote “Centeredness” across all the NM ADRC Cores and Components and ensure all the Grant Aims are accomplished.
The NM ADRC Administrative Core coordinates all center activities and ensures that the six scientific cores and the research education component work together effectively.
The Administrative Core provides leadership of the NM ADRC. The Administrative Core Executive Team meets weekly to ensure broad oversight of the center. All Core leaders convene monthly to discuss accomplishments, challenges and plans. Additionally, the Administrative Team meets individually with each Core leadership to ensure milestone accomplishment, budget management and challenges are addressed regularly. The AC also coordinates the External and Internal Advisory Committee yearly meetings.
The Administrative Core helps train the next generation of Alzheimer’s disease researchers by awarding developmental grants to early‑stage investigators. The core also partners with research centers across the university and throughout the state to strengthen dementia research and expand opportunities for collaboration. It organized a successful statewide research symposium that highlighted work from the New Mexico center and other institutions.
Day‑to‑day operations of the center are managed by the Administrative Core in close collaboration with core leaders. The regulatory oversight, financial management, contracts and grant management of the NM ADRC and related studies is provided by the AC. Required reporting, strategic planning, and Core coordination, and ensuring all Cores are achieving milestones is managed by the Administrative Core.
